Mountain View is now saving B.C.’s Rarest Bird, the Rarest Mammal, and
it’s Rarest Amphibian.
By the late nineties, many of our local species had started to become critically endangered, and the Blankstein’s and Mountain View Conservation have been requested to help with several locally endangered species, including the Northern Spotted Owl, Vancouver Island Marmots, and the Oregon Spotted Frog. Large specialized habitats have been built for these species at our cost, and new breeding programs inaugurated. By 2010, all the programs were flourishing and more local programs were being considered.
Mountain View is a B.C. non-profit society, whose mission is to save B.C. and Canadian wildlife from extinction by operating ‘breeding and return’ conservation programs for these rare & endangered “Red-Listed” wildlife species, and to operate public awareness and educational programs. Our conservation and breeding programs work for the eventual release of their offspring back into their natural habitats here in B.C. to create sustainable populations of these rare species.
Our main programs are:
- B.C.s Rarest Bird, The Northern Spotted Owl
- B.C.’s Rarest Mammal, Vancouver Island Marmots
- B.C.’s Rarest Amphibian, Oregon Spotted Frogs
We host these ‘breeding and return’ programs on our 300+acre ‘Conservatory’ located near Fort Langley in the Township of Langley, B.C., and operate these Wildlife Conservation Programs in partnership with the B.C. Government’s Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, B.C. Fish and Wildlife, and Canada’s Ministry of the Environment.
Additionally, in order to raise public awareness, we offer teachers and students, community groups, families and individuals, educational presentations & guided/narrated tram tours through our Conservatory, seven days a week on a pre-booked basis.
Additionally, we now offer a new Education Outreach Program that we can deliver directly to B.C. Schools in the lower mainland, and a Distance Learning Program for schools & teachers elsewhere in the Province of British Columbia and across Canada.
It wouldn’t be possible for Mountain View Conservation to continue its programs without your donations! Please continue to support this extremely important work. You can help!
